Mammoth basil offers an intense, sweet flavor, with notes of anise and clove.

Mammoth basil is ideal for tomato-based dishes, salads, sauces, pizzas, pasta dishes and meat dishes. It can also be used to make aromatic pestos.

To preserve the flavor of mammoth basil, it's best to add it freshly at the end of cooking, or to incorporate it into cold dishes to retain its delicate aromas.

Our tips for successfully growing your mammoth basil

Mammoth basil is a variety with very broad, curly leaves. Each plant grows at a different speed. Mammoth Basil grows in two-leaf stages. Wait until there are two layers before harvesting (around 15-20 cm high), then harvest leaf by leaf as needed.

From 4-5 weeks or when the plant has 2 pairs of leaves, you can start harvesting. Cut the stem 1 cm above a node. This will give you a fuller plant. It's important to cut the tallest stems to allow the side leaves to develop properly, so that they don't reach the light.
