How do you cook swiss chard?

Chard ribs are delicious raw, in a salad.

Before cooking, you can blanch them to make them more tender. To do this, plunge them into a pan of boiling water for a few minutes, then transfer them to iced water to stop the cooking process. They can then be used as a side dish or incorporated into dishes such as stir-fries, gratins or soups.

Chard ribs can also be grilled or roasted in the oven with a little olive oil, salt and pepper. This gives them a more pronounced flavor and a slightly crispy texture.

Our tips for successfully growing your swiss chard

To harvest chard ribs, you can use our mini scissors to cut the stems at the base of the plant. It's best to cut the shoots close to the ground, while avoiding injury to other parts of the plant.
